Your sofa is more than furniture. It is where you relax after work, host friends, cuddle up with your kids, and enjoy slow weekends at home. At Zorora Sofas, our made-to-order couches are designed for real South African living, with durable fabrics that balance comfort, style, and practicality.
To help your sofa stay beautiful for longer, here are simple care tips for cleaning, stain removal, and fabric pilling.
What Makes Zorora Fabrics Durable?
Zorora fabrics are high-quality 100% polyester upholstery fabrics, selected for durability, wrinkle resistance, and everyday comfort. Our fabrics are suitable for commercial-grade use, with an above 30,000 rub count.
We offer two main fabric collections:
Classic Collection: Hard-wearing, budget-friendly fabrics with water-repellent finishes. Ideal for busy homes and everyday use.
Premium Collection: Advanced stain-resistant fabrics with elevated textures, colours, and finishes. Perfect for a more luxurious look without compromising on practicality.
Across our collections, you will find easy-clean, kid-friendly, odour-resistant, stain-resistant, and harmful-chemical-free fabric options.
How to Keep Your Sofa Looking Fresh
A little regular care goes a long way. To extend the life of your fabric sofa:
Vacuum regularly, but skip the brush attachment. Gentle vacuuming removes dust, crumbs, and loose particles that can cause friction on the fabric.
Rotate your cushions. Turn back cushions 180 degrees regularly to spread wear evenly.
Spot clean stains quickly. The sooner you clean a spill, the easier it is to remove.
Avoid harsh chemicals. Water and mild soap are usually enough for spot cleaning on FibreGuard fabrics or our Premium Fabric Cleaner for other fabrics. Strong chemicals can affect the fabric.
Protect against sharp objects. Pet claws, zippers, buttons, and rough materials can snag or damage upholstery.
For extra protection, Zorora also offers tailored slipcovers for all sofa models.
How to Clean a Fabric Sofa Stain
If using Zorora’s Premium Fabric Cleaner, spray the solution directly onto the soiled area and gently clean with a cotton cloth or foam sponge. Allow the area to air dry naturally. Do not use a hair dryer or apply heat to the stain.
Fibreguard Fabrics:
For liquid spills, blot the area with a paper towel from the side and allow the liquid to absorb into the towel. Avoid pressing down from the top, as this can push the spill deeper into the fabric.
For mud or food stains, let the substance dry completely first. Then gently lift away excess dirt with a teaspoon or flat utensil before cleaning.
How to Remove Pet or Urine Stains
For pet accidents, spray a half-water, half-vinegar solution onto the stain and blot with a clean white cloth. Once most of the moisture is removed, sprinkle baking soda over the area to help reduce odour.
Let it dry completely, then vacuum up the baking soda residue.
What Is Fabric Pilling?
Fabric pilling is when small, fuzzy balls of fibre appear on the surface of the fabric. It is a natural result of friction from daily use, clothing, throws, pet activity, washing, or rough materials.
Some fabrics are more prone to pilling than others. Loose weave fabrics may pill more easily because of increased friction, while tighter or smoother weaves are generally less prone to pilling.
How to Manage Fabric Pilling
Pilling can be managed easily at home. Use a handheld lint shaver to gently remove pills from the fabric surface. You can also use adhesive tape or a sticky roller for lighter pilling.
To reduce future pilling, vacuum regularly, rotate cushions, avoid abrasive materials, and follow the correct cleaning instructions.
Final Thoughts
Your Zorora sofa is made for living, from family movie nights to Sunday lounging and everyday moments in between. With regular vacuuming, quick stain care, gentle cleaning, and proper cushion rotation, your fabric sofa can stay comfortable and beautiful for years.
