There are moments in business when an opportunity comes along that is about so much more than marketing. When we were invited to sponsor The Gift of Sight Invitational, we did not hesitate. Here is why.
What Is The Gift of Sight Invitational?
The Gift of Sight Invitational is a charity golf day hosted by The Gift of Sight Trust, an organisation dedicated to preventing avoidable blindness and funding life-changing cataract surgeries for patients across South Africa who would otherwise have no access to treatment.
The numbers are sobering. Cataracts are one of the leading causes of blindness in South Africa, yet in many cases they are entirely treatable. A single surgery can restore a person's sight, and with it, their independence, their ability to work, to care for their family, to simply see the faces of the people they love. The Gift of Sight Trust exists to make that surgery possible for those who cannot afford it.
The golf day is one of their primary fundraising events, and this year we are honoured to be among the sponsors making it happen.
Why Zorora Chose to Get Involved
We will be honest: we are a sofa brand. We make and sell beautiful, made-to-order furniture for South African homes. Sponsoring a charity golf day might not be the most obvious move on paper.
But when you dig a little deeper, it makes complete sense to us.
We believe a brand should stand for something beyond what it sells.

The Gift of Sight Trust does its work here, in our communities. The patients they serve are our neighbours, our fellow South Africans. As a local manufacturer and retailer, we feel a real responsibility to give back to the country that supports us. This is one meaningful way to do that.

A Special Moment for Zorora and for the Western Cape
This particular event also comes at a significant time for us as a brand.
We are thrilled to announce that Zorora is opening a new store in Paarl on 1 July 2026, growing our Western Cape footprint alongside our existing stores in Table Bay and Woodstock. We love this region and the people in it, and bringing a Zorora closer to the Paarl community feels like a natural next step.
