What Is EcoHide?
EcoHide is Zorora's leather-look upholstery, part of our Premium fabric collection. It gives you the smooth, structured surface and grain typically associated with leather, without using any animal hide. We don't use leather or duck feathers anywhere in our sofas, EcoHide exists specifically as a cruelty-free way to get that look and feel. It's currently available in four colourways, Tan, Pumice, Forest and Carbon, across several of our collections.
What's the Difference in Feel?
Textile fabric has give and texture, it's soft to the touch, warmer in feel, and tends to suit a more relaxed, lived-in look. EcoHide is smoother and firmer to the touch, with a structured surface that holds a crisper, more tailored appearance over time. Neither is "better" here, it's genuinely a matter of preference: some people want the sofa to feel cosy and textural, others prefer the cleaner, more polished look EcoHide gives a room.
Which Is Easier to Clean?
This is usually where EcoHide has a real edge. Because it has a smooth, non-porous surface, spills tend to sit on top rather than soak in, so a quick wipe with a damp cloth is often all that's needed. Textile fabric, even our stain-resistant Premium options like FibreGuard, generally requires a bit more care, blotting a spill promptly, using the right cleaning method for that specific fabric, and occasionally a deeper clean.
If cleaning ease is a top priority, particularly in busy households, EcoHide is generally the more forgiving option day to day.
Which Holds Up Better to Pets and Kids?
Both can work well, but for different reasons. EcoHide's smooth surface makes it easier to wipe away muddy paw prints or sticky fingers before they set in, and it doesn't tend to trap pet hair the way some woven fabrics can. Textile fabric, on the other hand, is generally more forgiving of scratches, a woven texture tends to disguise small marks better than a smooth surface, where scuffs can be more visible.

Our fabrics carry a minimum 40,000 Martindale rub count, a standard measure of wear resistance, with some collections rated significantly higher. EcoHide is built to handle everyday use well too, though like any leather-look material, it's worth avoiding sharp objects and direct heat sources, which can affect the surface over time in ways a woven fabric wouldn't show in the same way.
